The dress Scarlett O'Hara from the classic "Gone with the Wind 'has at auction raised $ 137,000 (equivalent to approximately 127,000 euros).The garment was yesterday (local time) under the hammer in Beverly Hills (California).
It was one of more than 150 items from the movie that were auctioned by Heritage Auctions. The gray with black dress was worn in the eight Oscar winning film from 1939 by Vivien Leigh. It belongs to the private collection of James Tumblin. The man who was previously responsible for the hair and makeup department of film company Universal Studios, has 300,000 objects, the largest collection of "Gone with the Wind." He bought the dress O'Hara ever for twenty dollars when the garment would be thrown away. Other highlights of the auction were a straw hat worn by Leigh (52,000 dollars), the trousers and jacket of lead actor Clark Gable ($ 55,000 ) and a black hat that was worn by several female protagonists of the film ($ 30,000).
